Champion Picks is a paid tipping site but they do provide free tips via a emailed newsletter as well as some very interesting articles.

I haven't thought too much about the tips, occasionally I would put a bet on one and it would come in. After yesterday I decided to go through my emails and analyze the best bet for Saturday and the regular mid week tip I get. The findings are very good, particularly the mid week tip.

Melbourne Cup

I'm going to attempt to tip the Melbourne Cup this year. I should clarify I have uncanny knack of having money on the fourth or second placed horse for the cup.

The race seems to be getting harder each year to pick with so many over seas horses some yet to race in Australia.

Dunaden - Is my pick, it is in my opinion the best horse in the field. The worry is how much weight it is carrying.

Other horses I expect to be in the mix are:

Americain - Has won the race before and is in pretty good form. Prefers the ground a little softer.

Red Cadeaux - Can run the distance (a close second last year). Has never beaten Dunaden.

Mt Athos - Great form and can win at distance. Untested in Australia.

Lights Of Heaven - It Caulfield Cup run was enough to prove it has a chance here. Best local hope for mine.

Kelinni - Has good for at distance but not against the quality of this race, excellent performance Lexus Stakes.
